The virtuous great spiritual guide Ngakwang Delek Rabji’s brief biography

 

Geshe Ngakwang Delek Rabji was born in the Domey region of Golok in 1936.  Having been initiated into religious life at the Longgya monastery, he cultivated the six-branch application of completion stage Kalachakra before the presence of the great Vajra guru, Gunbang Monlam Sangbo, and accomplished the ultimate realization.   Later under the great teacher Sang-ngak Tenzin, he exhausted studying the Collected Topics of Prime Cognition, perfection of wisdom, the middle way and so forth from the five major Tibetan schools’ sutra teaching, the four tantra sets of the Mantrayana, and common cultural studies. 

 

Furthermore, not only did Geshe Ngakwang Delek Rabji spread far and wide the non-sectarian teaching of dharma transmission he received in the presence of Gyechen Tamba Duma, he also attained liberation with tantric realization by practicing exactly what he was taught.  He is also widely known for speaking about the definitive meaning of the great spiritual guides. 

 

Geshe Ngakwang Delek Rabji has been a professor at the Golok Ethnic Normal College since 1981.  He has been dedicated to work towards maintaining and reviving Tibet’s precious traditional culture and learning.  In 1989, he received the “Distinguished Great Professor” award from the National Educational Committee and the “National Exalted Perfect Teacher” award.  In 1994, he was given the Potala Palace Medal by the Tibet Autonomous Region Foundation and received numerous other awards.   

 

 

In the past years, Geshe Ngakwang Delek Rabji has been invited to teach in different monastic establishments belonging to all major Tibetan Buddhist sectarian traditions.  Many of his students have in turn become teachers, vajra gurus, great Khenpos (scholars) and Geshe degree holders at these different monastic colleges and establishments.
